MINIESE × Jiayu — four paintings, brought to life
A new line, for painters working today, opens with Jiayu. Four of Jiayu's flower-and-bird paintings, in ink and colour, now in the shop, each one moving in MINIESE AR: koi round a garden rock, cranes in a courtship dance, a pair of birds on a peony bough, ducklings under a grapevine.
A new line in the shop: Miniese X Artists. Until now, every work here has been one of ours, or a masterpiece from a museum. This line is for painters working today, whose own paintings we bring to life with them. It opens with Jiayu.
Jiayu paints flowers and birds, in ink and colour, the way Chinese painters have for a thousand years: peonies for prosperity, cranes for long life, koi for luck that keeps flowing. Each painting carries her name and her seal, 家玉, and one of them its blessing written down the side: 富贵有余, wealth and plenty, year after year, painted in the summer of 2026.
Four paintings, and what they do in AR.
- In Shadows of the Koi Lagoon, peonies in every colour bloom over a green lagoon. In AR, the koi swim round the old rock, and a butterfly opens and closes its wings on the white peony.
- In The Crimson Courtship Dance, two red-crowned cranes stand beneath trees heavy with crimson peonies. In AR, they step out among the flowers and dance their courtship, one spreading its wings wide.
- In Whispers on the Peony Bough, a pair of birds sits on a branch above two pink peonies. In AR, they turn their heads and lean toward each other.
- In Ripples in the Grape Harbor, two yellow ducklings drift beneath a heavy grapevine. In AR, a grape drops into the pond, the ripples spread, and the ducklings paddle over to it.
Made to hang. Each painting is printed to order, the same way our museum prints are: 14 inch, matted, for $69, or a larger sheet, no mat, no frame, for $189: 24 inch for the three tall ones, 20 inch for The Crimson Courtship Dance. Any other size, we will quote. View in Room shows each one on your own wall before you buy.
A gift that means something. Every one of the four is a wish: for a new home, a wedding or an anniversary, a parent or a grandparent, or the Lunar New Year. And when it is on the wall, it moves.
