For the ones who can't sleep
Six quiet night pictures for the friend who's always awake at 3am — or for you.
Some people do their best thinking at night; some just wish they could stop. These are the works we’d hang by their bed.
Bed by the Sea — a made bed with the lamp still on, waiting beside a calm night sea. Its stories bring a seagull that settles in to read, and a little wave that comes out to play with the lamp.
The Starry Night — Van Gogh watched this sky from his window before sunrise, while the village slept. Proof that the sleepless see things the rest of us miss.
Spring Moon at Ninomiya Beach — Kawase Hasui’s calm full moon over quiet surf, made for night-time looking.
Drifting Awake — she sits awake under a lamp on a night sea, alone with her thoughts — and in AR a humpback whale breaches beside her and crashes back into the sea.
A Gentle Goodnight — in AR her hats float up and become stars, and then, at last, she goes inside to bed.
The Sleeping Gypsy — Rousseau’s deep, untroubled sleep under a full moon. In AR a lion sniffs the sleeper, then sits down beside her and gazes at the moon.
